How many devices can I connect
The device limit on the VPN, Premium and Router plans, what counts as a device, where to see the list and how to free a slot.
On this page
How many devices you can connect to one subscription depends on the plan.
Plan | Devices |
|---|---|
VPN | You choose it at purchase within the plan's range; you can change it later if the plan allows |
Premium | Any number |
Router | One router — every device on your home network goes through it |
Free trial | The number is shown on the trial and subscription cards |
What counts as a device#
A device is a phone, computer, TV or TV box where the subscription is added to an app. It appears in the subscription's device list as soon as the app loads the subscription, and keeps its slot until it's disconnected — even while the VPN on it is off.
After a factory reset or an OS reinstall, the device counts as new, while the old entry stays in the list.
If the subscription is added to two different apps on the same device, the list may show two entries.
If you have several subscriptions, the ResetVPN app takes a slot only on the one you picked to connect with.
Everyone you gave your subscription link to takes one of your slots too. For family and friends there are "Participants" on the website and in the ResetVPN app: slots you give them are taken out of your limit.
Where to see and free slots#
"Overview" → the "Devices" tile on the subscription card → "Manage". To free a slot, tap "Disconnect" next to a device.
"Personal account" → "Manage subscriptions" → your subscription → "Manage devices" → "Connected devices". To free a slot, tap "Delete #N".
The "Subs" tab → "Devices" on the subscription card → "Manage". To free a slot, tap "Disconnect".
Each subscription allows 3 removals per 72 hours. More in Device limit exceeded.
How to change the limit#
Only the "VPN" plan has an adjustable limit, and only if the plan allows it (otherwise there's no button, or the window says the limit isn't adjustable for this plan): "Manage limit" on the devices screen (in the bot — "Manage devices" → "Device limit"). The plan sets the bounds; you'll see them on that screen.
An increase applies right away, with a surcharge for the days remaining.
A decrease takes effect at your next renewal. There's no refund for the current period: it's already paid at the previous limit. On renewal, devices above the new limit are disconnected — the longest-inactive ones first.
